more botanical bliss...

I've been busy making lots of Christmas cards this week, so it was a very nice distraction to put together this simple card together using pieces from the gorgeous Aromatica Botanica kit

I've used the rose A4 paper as a background, a strip of the cream floral tape and embellished it with the purple rose blossom, ribbon rose and cute little flying heart charm

Happy Sunday everyone,

something old..

Here's my first creation using the oh so pretty Aromatica Botanica kit..
This kit combines perfectly with a vintage themed layout so I've chosen to scrap this gorgeous old typewriter I spotted whilst on holiday recently..

I've used quite a few pieces from the kit (couldn't stop myself) including the rose A4 paper, the vintage paper doily, flying heart charm, cream ribbon rose and a strip of the velvet brocade paper

..now I'm off to create some more.. bye for now :)

It’s Coming Up Roses!!

I just loved the book page that came in my Aromatica Botanica kit
It inspired me to do a floral page about our trip to the gardens

100_3518

I cut up the rose that was on the book page

100_3514

so intricate and delicate!
I also used some of the fabric tape and the tulle to add some texture and depth to the page

100_3515

such a simple technique
You just loop the tulle, add the tape to one side and stitch over it, to hold it in place
Other pieces used were the rose blossom and 2 of the gorgeous gorgeous felt leaves.

100_3516

Can’t wait to see what others create with the kit, it’s just beautiful

Funny Duck!

As soon as I saw the Aromatica Botanica kit I knew I wanted to scrap some photos that I took on a recent trip to the Botanical Gardens
The first page I made was all about a duck that tried to make friends with us
I wanted to capture the funny story so it would be talked about for years to come

100_3500

On this page I used the paper doily, Rose A4 paper, Floral Velvet Brocade Paper

100_3506

and imagine my glee when I found that you can actually punch the Fabric tapes

100_3505

Oh so so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to making another page about our garden adventures!

Calling all creative peeps!

It’s that time of year again; it is time to bid a fond farewell to our current creative team – Sharmaine, Yvonne, Gina and Jody!
And it is time to welcome some new creative blood into the QTea family,
I am on the look out for Creative Team Members for January 2011 to June 2011.

How do you can apply:

Expressions of interest are sought for the Q Tea creative; there are FOUR vacant positions and the role will be from January 2011 to June 2011.

You are also welcome to use the projects you create for Q Tea to enter other challenges or to combine with other design team commitments.
^ During the 6months provide ONE step-by-step instructional on how you completed a project, layout or card using Q Tea products.

^ Regularly post on the Qtea kits blog (you will be given access) about your creative process and/or your current work for Qtea!

Creative Team Members may also be given any add-on kits or mini project kits Q Tea releases! {depending on number of editions released}

You will also need to provide:

Ideally the examples would show how you like to use non-traditional products, such as those in the Q Tea kits. Please keep the file sizes small for ease of viewing.
^ A recent photo of you!
^ A recent photo of your creative space (and yes MESS is allowed)
^ A link to your blog! (if you have one)

Change, tragedy and the silence in-between!

Are you wondering what happened to October’s kit?
I’m actually wondering what happened to October, where did the last four weeks go, actually, scrap that, where did the last 8weeks go?
To say the last 8weeks have been the hardest in my life sounds somewhat melodramatic, however it is not an understatement.
When friends, family and total strangers hear our story there is usually a sharp intake of air, followed by the inevitable question “how are you coping?”…….…………you see in the past two months there has been; a change of employment for my husband (after 16yrs at the one job), a decision to move 5hrs away, some solo-parenting and biggest humdinger of them was
this!
This car accident on the other side of the world has rendered our little family without a beloved mother, grandmother and friend and left all us all reeling.
So how are we all coping?
For the most part, we are going great…….well with one exception………my beloved little kit business has fallen by the wayside, I have fallen off the wagon – bigtime!
I won’t lie, several times over the past couple of weeks I have been very tempted to shut Qtea down and pack it all in.
To be honest it has felt too hard, with getting our house ready to sell, packing, trying to arrange to move some 500kms away all whilst juggling our grief and worry for my father-in-law.
So, there is no kit for October…………..BUT the good news is that I am no quitter and I am feeling the urge to create again so there will be a kit for November…….there is also a website that is nearly completed and a design team call coming up in November.
Please accept my sincere apologies for the silence in-between all this change and chaos………regular subscribers will get a personal e-mail from me and small gift as my apology……………I am excited about creating more Qtea kits and I hope you all are excited about seeing them too.

Perfect 10

It's me again!

It was 10 october 2010 and here in Singapore, I am very sure all hotel ballrooms were fully booked way in advance! YES, to many, it was a great day and date for their wedding!

Here's a Hong Bao I have made with more from the Miss Matryoshka kit.

Hong Bao
, directly translated into English basically means a Red Packet and the Chinese use Hong Bao to contain money as blessings to their recipients. Hong Bao are commonly used during Chinese New Year and Weddings. There are lots of ready made Hong Baos in the market, but I love personalised ones - and the best part is, they do not have to be red anymore! :)

Here's what I have used from the kit

  • Elle's Studio Love Bird - could you see the birds I have cut out?
  • I {love} Matryoshkadoll Notepaper - the bottom edge of this Notepaper was used under the word 'LOVE' here.
  • Red Poppies - the remaining 2!

Here's the inside where one would slot in a few notes ~ cash I meant... and I left a space for a personal message of the traditional way of scribbling the names on the surface of the Hong Bao.

I have a feeling I could use the remaining of the kit for something else... Will post when I have ideas! :)

Love,
Yvonne

More Matryoshka..

As promised, I'm back with another layout using the super sweet Miss Matryoshka kit...
Once again the colours have been so perfect to scrap a girly layout..

From the kit, I've cut the Heart Paper Doily in half and lightly brushed some gesso over and a few drops of pink glimmer..

I've also cut out the little Matryoshka Dolls from the Russian Dolls Notepaper, used a strip of the Elegant Brocade Paper amongst the layers and cut out a couple of pieces from the Orange and Pink Spot Fabric

I hope you're enjoying your kit too, don't forget to share your creations in the Qtea Flickr gallery!

cafe love

Oh what a delight it was to finally get a chance to scrap with this gorgeous Miss Matryoshka kit..the sweet designs and colours were so easy to work with!

I've used several bits and pieces on this layout including the orange and pink spot fabric, which I cut into a large scallop, the elegant brocade paper, green cotton trim, a strip of love hearts from the apple of my eye notepaper, red poppies and Elle's Studio bird spot

Thanks for stopping by..I'll be back again soon with another share :)

Look Of Love

I am late.... but I am here, finally!

Though I told myself this would be in time though I'd gotten them late.. I was wrong. However, it's here - my first creation with my Miss Matryoshka

I created this colorful layout with

  • Large Stone Heart
  • Small Stone Heart
  • Elle's Studio Love Bird Tag
  • Orange & Pink Spot Fabric
  • ½ metre Green Cotton Trim
  • 2x Red Poppies
  • Heart Paper Doiley

Can you see where I have used the Orange & Pink Spot Fabric? Right above the photo, I used the fray side of the fabric for the texture! Love the effect. There is also a cut-out pink spot behind the Large and Small Stone Hearts..

Here's more closeups.

I really love the sweet and refreshing colors from this kit and I am sure I could come up with another creation! I will I will.. so, hang in there and talk soon!

Yvonne

* Birdie spot
* Orange and Pink spot fabric (I have cut out the circles and made them into little trees)
* Notepaper
* Poppies

21 again....

Yeah I wish....This is my gorgeous girl Dacynta (aka Flick - don't ask...) celebrating her 21st! On this layout I have used:

* Purple spot ribbon

* Brocade paper

* {heart} paper doiley

* Pink lace

* and I have cut a little birdie from the note paper

This kit was so much fun to play with! Can't wait to see what you create!

Just Hangin’ With My Matryoshka

Our eldest has just had a bedroom makeover
So making her a door hanger was in order
I dug into the Miss Matryoshka kit and the brocade paper was a perfect place to start

IMG_0959

I tied a bow with the purple ribbon and added a red poppy to the middle

IMG_0961

I also cut out one of the gorgeous dolls, from a piece of the notepaper, and glued it down with some dimensional magic

IMG_0963

I’ve been told it’s cool but anything with those gorgeous dolls on it would be classed as cool around here :)
Looking forward to seeing what everyone else creates with the kit :)
Happy creating :)

A Spoonful Of Sugar

That is what a QTea kit is
It makes creating so much easier!
Yesterday the mailman left me some goodness
Some Miss Matryoshka goodness!
I took that goodness and created this page

100_2867

I used lots of bits from the kit
A piece of the notepaper made for a great journal block
And the scallop edge under the pompom trim is also from the notepaper

100_2872

The heart paper doily is just stunning

100_2873

and I curled the wire on one of the poppies and added it next to the Elle’s Studio Love Bird Tag

100_2874

So if you haven’t ordered your kit yet you better get your skates on because this kit is just delightful, in the most delightful way ;)

I'm Late.....I'm Late.....

For a very important date....August has been so busy for me - but I had to make time to play with my White Rabbit QTea kit.

Two different layouts showcasing just how much fun you can have with this kit. In the first layout Baby Jack I have used the purple crochet flower, the spotted mini buttons, the orange lace paper, the reverse side of the brocade paper, the blue scallop trim, the vintage mushroom button and a blue forget me not!

I want candy! This photo is part of the candy buffet that I created for my daughter's (Dacynta) 21st birthday party last weekend. I have used the pink crochet flower, the other vintage blue forget me not, the Alice's Dress Embroidery Patch, Mulberry Muse Alice Tag, the eat me pewter charm, sweet birdie tag, the pom pom fibre, the brocade paper and oh - the sweet rose that i have {sugared} myself!

This kit was soooo much fun to play with!

My 2nd Rabbit

Here's my second take at the lovely August Kit! :)

I made a card!!!

Using the Purple Crochet Flower, remaining of the Brocade/Stripe Double-Sided Patterned Paper and I also tried to show both sides! The word 'Love' is sitting on the stripes-side of it!
I also used part of the Vintage Spot Scallop Trim and the remaining of the Orange Lace Paper and the lovely Alice's Dress Embroidery Patch.

Hope you love this.. Talk soon! :)

My Cupcake

I am finally done with the first layout with 'follow the white rabbit' kit! Though a little late but -Yay! It's here!

And I made a layout of a couple friends, each holding a yummy cupcake in their hands.. I have decided to use a cheery yellow background as the kit came with items that are brightly colored too!

What I used from the kit in this layout : Mulberry Muse Alice Tag, 1x Vintage Bookpaper - Alice in Wonderland, Sweet Birdie Tag, 2x Red Spot Mini Button, Pink Crochet Flower, part of the ½ metre Rainbow Pom Pom Fibre, Orange Lace Paper, part of the Brocade/Stripe Double-Sided Patterned Paper and the Sweet Little Rose Flower!

I also added the cutie 'Delicious' bag from The Greatest Show On Earth Kit! Love it!

Here's a few close up shots.

How cute.. in the picture, they were both holding a cupcake and seemed to flow well with this portion I tore out - that says... "The Queen of Hearts, she made some tarts, All on a summer day: The Knave of Hearts, he stole those tarts, and took them quite away!"

I wonder who took whose away? :)

I am going to see what else I can create with the remaining kit!
Have a good weekend y'all.

Love,
Yvonne

Wednesday, 11 August 2010

pretty in pink..

I think 'follow the white rabbit' may just be my favourite Qtea kit to date! I adore the 'girly' colours in this one ...it's all seriously pretty! I can see myself using up every last scrap too! :)

For this layout, I've made a border out of the gorgeous Brocade/Stripe Double-Sided Patterned Paper, and also added a section of the rainbow pom pom fibre, sweet little rose flower, sweet birdie tag and crochet flowers. The pearls were left over from last month's kit...

Now, back to my next layout, will share that one soon..thanks for stopping by :)

“You're nothing but a pack of cards!”

Seems to be card making season!!
and I must have caught the bug because I made a little get well soon card using 4 pieces from the Follow the White Rabbit kit

100_2581

Can you spy the 4 things??

The scallop trim (Which is just gorgeous), the playing card (which features twice), the orange lace paper (also making a double appearance) and the Brocade/Stripe Double-Sided Patterned Paper.
Loved this flower and all it’s layers

100_2584

The bottom orange layer is a pleated flower and the top one is a rolled one.
Lovin’ the layers :) :)
